The "Sunday Filmmakers Rendezvous" series provides a forum for:
1) film school students and alumni to meet and make new industry connections.
2) industry professionals to see the work of the next generation of filmmakers...
...as we showcase rising talent from the nation's great film schools.
This month's event features award-winning short films produced and/or directed by students from UCLA, USC, AFI and Chapman. You can make an evening of it at Cinespace with discounted
menu items available during the screening.
See and be seen with fellow filmmakers,
directors, screenwriters, producers, animators, production,
MBAs, entertainment lawyers and law students and all who
love film.

Set against the backdrop of an LA rainstorm, four characters struggle to connect in a lonely world over the course of one night.

When his longtime nemesis suddenly dies, Kenneth, a misanthropic loner, must wander a city of cement in search of a proper burial site.

"Pee Shy" Narrative- Director: Deb Hagan (AFI).
A boy becomes so frightened by his scout leader's campfire stories that he humiliates himself one night and becomes the object of the scout leader's vicious humor... until the troop encounters something truly terrifying in the woods.

"Smile" Animation- Writer/director/animator: Chris Mais (Chapman).
Smile, a lonely but caring happy face toy, risks all for the friendship of a balloon.

Awards: Winner Best Student Film at SIGGRAPH; Audience Award for Animation, Palm Springs Festival of Short Films.
"Ringers: Lord of the Fans", produced by UCLA PP Josh Mandel and picked up for international distribution by Sony.
Josh and the other producers of this feature length documentary will be on hand to discuss the challenges of making a project that took them around the world to follow the Lord of The Rings phenomenon.
